Why we built yCalculator
UK calculators on the internet have a problem. Most are adapted from American tools that use dollar signs, ignore Scottish tax rates, apply US mortgage rules, and miss the latest Home Office fee changes. When rules change, and in the UK they change constantly, most sites take months to update, if they update at all.
yCalculator was built to fix this. Every calculator is built specifically for the UK, updated when rules change, and designed to explain what your result actually means, not just give you a number.
What makes yCalculator different
Built for the UK, not adapted from the US
Every calculator uses UK rules, UK thresholds, and UK terminology. Stamp Duty, not Transfer Tax. National Insurance, not Social Security. Take-home pay after Scottish income tax rates where relevant.
Updated when rules change
UK tax thresholds, immigration fees, employment rights thresholds, and energy price caps change regularly. We update calculators when rules change and show the date each calculator was last reviewed.
Plain English results
A number on its own is not useful if you do not know what to do with it. Our calculators explain what the result means and what your next step should be.
No account needed
Every calculator on yCalculator is free to use without registering, logging in, or giving us your email address. Your inputs stay in your browser and are not stored on our servers.
